About this speaker

Andrew Leisewitz graduated from the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Pretoria at Onderstepoort (and the only veterinary school in South Africa) in 1987. He gained an Honors degree soon after this and then completed a residency and Masters degree in small animal medicine in 1995. He went on to become a Diplomat of the European College of Internal Medicine in 2003. He started as a junior academic at the Veterinary Faculty in 1990 and his research focus has been canine babesiosis since then. He has published over 50 publications and as an active clinician, teacher and researcher having spent over 30 years working as a specialist Veterinary Academic Hospital. He initiated and runs the Dermatology Clinic in the Hospital and has taught under an post graduate dermatology for decades. He currently holds the position of professor of small animal medicine in the Department of Companion Animal Clinical Studies.
